About the Tea m

The AP Curriculu m   and Assess m ent Tea m   at College Board (110+ staff) collaborates with colleagues across all aspects of the AP Progra m   to develop,   m anage, and deliver AP’s 40+ courses in a wide variety of subject areas. AP® is a rigorous acade m ic progra m   built on the co m m it m ent, passion, and hard work of students and educators fro m   secondary schools and higher education. AP provides willing and acade m ically prepared high school students with the opportunity to study and learn at the college level. AP’s content leads ensure that course curricula are aligned to higher education expectations and reflect the state of the art in the discipline, contribute to instructional resources and tools for teachers, and develop assess m ents that allow students in these courses to de m onstrate their   m astery of course content and skills.

About the Opportunity

The AP Curriculu m   and Assess m ent, Director, Project   M anage m ent leads end-to-end project   m anage m ent for course and exa m   revisions and updates, ensuring rigorous execution, clear align m ent, and on-ti m e delivery of all   m ilestones and deliverables. This role  operates  with pri m ary accountability for execution, integration, and operational excellence across a co m plex and large  portfolio of work.

You will own and continuously i m prove the road m aps, ti m elines, and process infrastructure that support course and exa m   changes, including the course and exa m   changes road m ap and the standard setting road m ap. You will develop and  m aintain  clear, scalable project plans (in S m artsheet),  m onitor  progress at every stage, and provide transparent reporting on project health, risks, and dependencies. This role will work cross-functionally with other depart m ents across the organization,  ensuring strong coordination, co m m unication, and delivery across tea m s.

In addition, you will build and   m anage process docu m entation specifically tied to course and exa m   changes, and lead project   m anage m ent for special projects across C&A. You will also partner on contracts and budgeting for the projects you  m anage, and   contribute to the oversight of operational resources. This role plays a critical part in strengthening how work gets done across the depart m ent by driving clarity, consistency, and efficiency.

In this role, you will

Drive Project Delivery and Execution  (70%)

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of course and exa m   revisions and updates across the full lifecycle
  • Build and  m aintain  detailed project plans, ti m elines, and   m ilestones
  • Track progress,  m onitor  dependencies, and proactively   m anage risks, issues, and changes
  • Ensure all deliverables are co m pleted on ti m e, within scope, and at a  high quality  bar
  • Report on project health, key risks, and   m itigation plans to stakeholders and leadership
  • Drive accountability across cross-functional tea m s to   m ee t deadlines and co m m it m ents
  • Identify  and reco m m end tradeoffs across scope, ti m eline, and resources to ensure successful delivery
  • Explore and integrate approved Generative AI tools into project   m anage m ent workflows to i m prove efficiency, scalability, and consistency across C&A operational processes.

Lead Road m aps, Process, and Operational Excellence (20%)

  • Own and continuously i m prove the course and exa m   changes road m ap and standard setting road m ap
  • Develop, refine, and  m aintain  process docu m entation and te m plates specific to course and exa m   changes
  • Standardize workflows to increase clarity, consistency, and efficiency across C&A workstrea m s
  • Design and i m prove tracking syste m s, dashboards, and docu m entation to support execution and visibility
  • Ensure align m ent between ti m elines, processes, and operational   m ilestones across initiatives

Coordinate Cross-Functional Integration and Special Projects (10%)

  • Serve as the pri m ary C&A project liaison for cross-depart m ent initiatives within AP, ensuring clear co m m unication and coordination
  • Synthesize cross-functional input and translate it into actionable project plans and ti m elines
  • Ensure align m ent between cross-functional inputs and final project decisions, escalating gaps as needed
  • M anage project execution for special projects involving C&A staff, ensuring align m ent with existing priorities and capacity
  • Support standard setting planning and coordination in partnership with Psycho m etrics, including road m ap align m ent and data inputs
  • Ensure cross-functional work is integrated into core project plans, ti m elines, and docu m entation
  • M aintain visibility into interdependencies across tea m s and elevate risks or   m isalign m ents as needed

About You

Exceptional candidates can effectively speak to

  • Expertise  in managing complex projects with at least five (5) years of project management experience  required , preferably in the   higher   education industry.
  • Superior technical skills/ expertise  in S m artsheet and full suite of   M icrosoft office applications (especially Excel and  Powerpoint ).
  • Strong analytical thinking skills and a data-driven approach to decision- m aking and prioritization, with the ability to forecast and   m easure using  appropriate   m etrics .
  • Ability to oversee   m ultiple workstrea m s with dependencies while keeping projects and budgets on track .
  • Experience partnering on contracts and budget   m anage m ent for co m plex projects.
  • Ability to  identify  risks early with a creative approach to proble m -solving.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence others to action.
  • Ability to lead   m ee tings effectively with a broad range of internal and external constituents.
  • Superior presentation and written  co m m unications  skills.
  • Ability to   m anage the entire process/product line life cycle fro m   strategic planning to tactical activities.
  • Strong custo m er service orientation.
  • A  Bachelors  degree
  • The ability to travel 3-6 ti m es a year to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board business.

  • The hiring range for this role is $80,000–$130,000.
