Job description
The Bookkeeper maintains the day-to-day financial records of the company: accounts payable, accounts receivable, spend management, general ledger reconciliation, and month-end close support. This is a fully remote position open to candidates anywhere in the United States. You will work in cloud accounting and spend-management platforms, reconcile payment processor activity, and produce clean, documented schedules for review.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate, current books, including AP/AR, bill pay, and transaction categorization
- Manage and reconcile corporate card and spend activity, matching transactions to receipts with correct coding
- Perform general ledger reconciliations across bank, credit card, and balance-sheet accounts; research and resolve discrepancies
- Post manual journal entries (accruals, prepaids, reclasses, adjustments) with supporting documentation
- Reconcile vendor statements against internal payment records; resolve unmatched and aged items
- Support month-end close and provide clean schedules to reviewers
- U.S. person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) residing in the United States, required due to our work with the Defense Industrial Base
- 2 or more years of bookkeeping or transactional accounting experience
- Proficiency with cloud accounting software and PSA tools such as Autotask (day-to-day operation, not just exposure)
- Working knowledge of spend-management platforms
- Experience reconciling online payment processors (PayPal, Stripe, Square, or similar), including net-of-fee deposits, batched settlement timing, refunds, and chargebacks
- GL reconciliation skill: able to find why an account is off and fix it
- Solid grasp of manual journal entries and double-entry accounting fundamentals
- Strong spreadsheet fluency, including building and maintaining multi-tab reconciliation workbooks
- Proficient with lookups (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP), pivot tables, filtering, sorting, and conditional logic
- Able to clean and structure messy data (text-to-columns, deduplication, inconsistent formatting) to make it reconcilable
- Attention to detail, the discipline to document work for review, and the self-direction to work effectively in a remote environment
- Must be a U.S. person as defined above; verification required during hiring
- Must reside and work within the United States
- Must successfully pass a cognitive assessment as part of the hiring process
- Must successfully complete a typing test to validate typing speed and accuracy
- Professional references required
