billups believes that each member makes a significant contribution to our success. That contribution should not be limited by the assigned responsibilities outlined in a job description. Therefore, this job description is designed to outline primary duties, qualifications and job scope, but not limit the employee nor the organization to just the work identified. It is our expectation that each team member will offer his/her services wherever and whenever necessary to ensure the success of our endeavors and to pursue individual career growth.
We are seeking a Product Design Lead who will bridge high-level user experience strategy, complex technical product architecture, and exceptional aesthetic execution.
In this role, the designer will own end-to-end design across our digital product ecosystem—from complex user flows and design systems to micro-level UI craft, micro-interactions, and typography. The right candidate should be as comfortable mapping complex user journeys and technical constraints as they are obsessing over editorial grid layouts, typographic scale, and visual hierarchy.
With this role we are looking for a confident leader for our product design team.
Core responsibilities
- Minimum 6-7 years of digital product design experience (UI/UX), including proven experience leading design initiatives on complex web or mobile applications.
- Product Leadership: Own the end-to-end design process, from wireframing and user flow optimization to high-fidelity UI prototyping.
- Design Systems: Build and maintain scalable UI libraries and design systems that ensure consistency across all digital touchpoints.
- Strategic Visualization: Translate complex business requirements into intuitive, innovative and aesthetically superior interfaces.
- Brand Integration: Ensure that digital products reflect the brand’s visual identity, applying "traditional" design excellence to the digital space.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the bridge between strategy, creative, and engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility without compromising design integrity.
Technical Requirements & Skill Set
- UX/UI Mastery: Expert proficiency in Figma (including advanced prototyping, variables, and auto-layout). Strong grasp of cognitive frameworks (e.g., Miller’s Law) and accessibility standards. Knowledge of Framer is a plus.
- Technical Literacy: Familiarity with front-end constraints (HTML/CSS/React) and the ability to hand off clean, pixel-perfect assets to developers.
- Art Direction: Ability to oversee the visual "soul" of a project, potentially including 3D visualization, motion, or high-fidelity rendering oversight.
Qualifications
- Innovator and problem solver: They don't just "push pixels"; they solve problems. Ability to understand and articulate the strategic part of design and translate that understanding into the final product.
- Systematic Thinking: Deep experience building and scaling component libraries and design systems. Ability to articulate why a design works, backing up visual choices with clear rationale, UX principles, and business objectives.
- Strategic Communicator: Capable of presenting design decisions to stakeholders with a focus on brand equity and user retention.
- Aesthetic & Typographic Mastery: An exceptional portfolio showcasing sophisticated taste in typography, composition, color, and visual hierarchy, not just functional layouts, but distinctive, refined visual craft.
- Portfolio Expectation: Examples of projects that clearly demonstrate articulation of complex design systems and scalable UI libraries.
- Tools: Figma (Expert), Adobe Creative Suite (Expert), and familiarity with prototyping tools (Framer or similar).
- Industry Background: Experience in agency environments or design-led tech companies is preferred.
